Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide (email, goals, allergens, preferences, and similar) and for activity on your account.

Temple provides informational grocery and nutrition guidance, including:

• Personalized food filtering based on goals and dietary preferences you select
• Barcode scanning and packaged-product lookup
• Grocery lists, favorites, and suggested swaps
• Recipe alternatives (TempleUp)
• Educational tips

Temple may be offered by waitlist or open access. Features, food data, and scoring may change as we improve the Service.

Temple is not a medical device, and Higgins Lab LLC is not a healthcare provider.

Content in Temple — including product scores, “aligned / not aligned” results, grocery lists, swaps, recipes, and tips — is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is based on publicly available nutrition datasets and published dietary-pattern guidelines. It is not individualized medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for care from a qualified clinician, registered dietitian, or other licensed professional.

You should not ignore professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you saw in Temple. Always consult your clinician before changing diet, especially if you have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, kidney disease, food allergies, or any other condition, or if you take prescription medication.

Food-allergy matching is a convenience feature, not an allergen-safety certification. Ingredient data can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, always read the physical product label and manufacturer warnings.

You may register with an email address and password. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity on your account.

You agree not to share your login credentials. Notify us at hello@templeguide.co if you believe your account has been compromised.

We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, appear fraudulent, or present a security risk.

You may submit content such as dislike terms, product requests, data-quality reports, TempleUp queries, and feedback.

You retain ownership of that content. You grant Higgins Lab a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it to operate, improve, and moderate the Service (for example, adding a missing product to the catalog or fixing a nutrition error).

You represent that your submissions are accurate to the best of your knowledge and do not infringe others’ rights. Do not submit personal health records, medical-test results, or someone else’s personal information.

You agree not to:

• Use Temple for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access other users’ accounts or non-public areas of the Service
• Scrape, overload, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Service or its data sources
• Misrepresent Temple scores or lists as medical advice or as an official certification
• Use Temple to provide clinical services to patients unless you have a separate written agreement with us
• Upload malware or attempt to probe our systems

We may rate-limit features (including TempleUp and scanner lookups) to protect the Service and our data providers.

Product and recipe information may come from Temple’s own catalog and from third-party nutrition and recipe sources. We do not control those sources and do not guarantee that names, nutrients, ingredients, or allergen statements are complete or current.

Scan results depend on a readable barcode and a match in available data. Unknown or generic items may not appear.

Data sources. Packaged-product lookup may use Open Food Facts and FatSecret. Ingredient lists and related flags may include data from Open Food Facts: (c) Open Food Facts contributors. Recipe alternatives (TempleUp) and some nutrition values use the fatsecret Platform API.

Temple, the Temple name and logo, the visual design, software, and original content are owned by Higgins Lab LLC or its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to copy, modify, or resell the Service except for personal use.

Third-party trademarks remain the property of their owners and are used only to identify products.

Features, food data, and functionality may change as we improve Temple. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, including when you are offline or when a third-party nutrition service is unavailable.

You may stop using Temple at any time and may delete your account in Settings.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if we discontinue the Service, or as required by law. After termination, provisions that should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and intellectual property) remain in effect.

Account deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HIGGINS LAB LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT FOOD DATA, ALLERGEN MATCHING, SCORES, OR RECIPES ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOU.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HIGGINS LAB LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50. TEMPLE IS CURRENTLY OFFERED WITHOUT CHARGE TO CONSUMERS, SO THIS AMOUNT WILL OFTEN BE $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

You agree to defend and indemnify Higgins Lab LLC against claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your user content, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

We may update these Terms by posting a new version at templeguide.co/terms. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Fulton County, Georgia will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any jurisdiction.

Informal resolution. Before filing a claim, please email hello@templeguide.co so we can try to resolve the issue.

If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Temple. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger or sale of the business. You may not assign them without our consent. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
